A Finger Pointing at the Moon

In Buddhism, it is said to imagine a finger pointing at the moon to understand the concept of Buddhism. The finger directs you to the moon, without it you may not see the moon, but the finger is not the moon. 

In a similar vein, art stands as a symbolic representation of genuine inspiration and thought. The art itself is the finger, pointing toward the true subject of it’s work.
